Strawberries in Grand Marnier Cream Cheese Sauce

This is Le Ann Dreier's recipe, Bon Appetit June, 1995. The sauce pairs well with any fresh fruit including raspberries, blueberries or peaches.  Although clearly not a low-fat dessert it is easy to make, elegant and delicious.

Ingredients

    • 10 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
    • 1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream
    • 1/2 cup plus 6 tablespoons powdered (confectioners) sugar
    • 1/2 cup whipping cream
    • 2 tablespoons Grand Marnier or Frangelico
    • 8 cups fresh strawberries, sliced (they can be left whole as well if they are small) or use any fresh fruit of choice.

Instructions

Combine first 4 ingredients plus 2 tablespoons Grand Marnier (or Frangelico) in a food processor.  Blend until smooth.  Taste and adjust liqueur if needed. Sauce can be prepared 24 hours in advance.

Distribute fruit and sauce in layers among 8 stemmed goblets.
