POG Wash (Maui Mai Tai)
This is the GourmetSleuth's version of the
tropical Mai Tai. Our frosty concoction includes a liberal dose of POG. POG is
Hawaii's popular combination of Passion Fruit, Orange, and Guava juices. Serves 1
I N G R E D I E N T S
1 chilled hi-ball glass
1 ounce dark run
1 ounce light rum
2 ounces Trader Vic's Mai Tai mixer
4 ounces POG (you can make your own by mixing equal parts of each juice, passion fruit,
orange juice, guava juice)
1 fresh pineapple spear

S T R U C T I O N S
Fill glass with ice cubes then add the two types of rum. Add the Mai Tai mixer, then
the POG. Garnish with the pineapple spear. If you pour each ingredient into
the glass slowly you'll see different color layers. Your guests can use the
pineapple spear as an edible stir stick.

POG History
Haleakala Dairy created POG in
the (the dates are sketchy, somewhere between the late 1970s to 1980s) to help
with their not so thriving dairy business. The dairy, sadly, was sold to Meadow Gold
around 1998. |
