A member of the cabbage family,Cauliflower originated from China. This vegetable is high in potassium, iron, and zinc. The most common variety is white but cauliflower also comes in green and purple.
Cauliflower florets (see images) are the small sections of "flowers" growing from the main stem. The florets can be used in salads, for casseroles, soups or fresh with dip.
Cauliflorets are the flower shaped tips of the cauliflower. The tender tips can be lightly steamed or eaten raw with flavorful dips. If you choose to use only the cauliflorets then save the rest of the stem portion for the soup pot.
