Basmati rice is an aromatic rice grown for centuries in the Himalayas. This flavorful long grain rice is used extensively in Indian and Middle Eastern cooking. The rice is available in white or brown versions.

You can use the standard 2 to 1 ratio for cooking basmati rice. Add 1 cup of basmati rice in a medium sized saucepan. Add 2 cups of fresh water. Stir the rice. Place a lid on the pan and bring the mixture to a boil. Turn the heat down to low and continue to cook approximately 20 minutes.
