The Huachinango chile is a large red jalapeno from Puebla, Oaxaca and the central valley in Mexico. The chile grows to about 5" with distinctive white veins along the outside skin. The flesh is thick and provides medium heat. When dried this chile is called a "chipotle grande". The Huachinango gets its name from the bright red snapper also called huachinango.
Fresh huachinango chiles are used in soups, stews and sauces. Expect to pay up to 4 times more for this special chile.
