    This is a simplified calculator.  It uses an "averaged" gram weight to do a simple calculation between a weight like grams, oz, pounds to a volume like cups, teaspoons, tablespoons.  Example, a teaspoon of baking powder does not weigh the same as a teaspoon of peanut butter.  This calculator will simply give you an approximate measurement. to those of us who studied any sort of science at school 1ounce=28.35grammes full stop now a US Fluid Ounce maybe ... And can it be correct that 1 oz of water is not 28.35gm?  How can this be?

Shimself- The difference is fluid ounces measure volume, and dry ounces measure weight. Confusing, I know. This explains it pretty well. http://ask.yahoo.com/20000717.html
