Worcestershire sauce


A dark colored condiment made from garlic, formula usually includes garlic, soy sauce, tamarind, onions, molasses, lime, anchovies, vinegar and seasonings. Available in most supermarkets. The condiment was invented by the English in India.

Vegetarian Note:
Check health food stores for a vegetarian version that does not use anchovies.

Substitute for worcestershire sauce

Steak sauce such as A1 brand, Soy Sauce, or make your own: Combine: 1 tsp tamarind paste, 1 tsp soy sauce, 1 tsp cider or white vinegar, dash hot pepper sauce, scant pinch cloves.
