Taro root

Taro is a starchy tuber. It is used to make "poi" which was a food staple in old Hawaii and is still eaten today. The root is sometimes cooked and glazed, or used in soups and stews and even "taro chips" similar to potato chips. The leaves of the taro (luau leaves) are also edible but must be cooked first.
