Tagine

A clay cooking pot from North Africa. These beautiful pots consist of a large shallow base and a tall conical lid. To use food is placed in the base. As the food cooks the steam is trapped inside of the tall lid and keeps the food moist. Traditional tagines are made of brown eartherware but there are many more modern, decorative versions. The tagine was intended to use inside of an oven rather than a cooktop. Not all tagines can be used to cook in. Some are simply used for serving. Make sure your tagine is intended for cooking before you make your purchase.

UCSF Researchers say products with added sugar should be controlled just like alcohol or tobacco. They are  advocating that the government take control of the situation because the citizens are unable to do so. The solutions they suggest include doubling the price of sodas via a sugar tax, put age restrictions on purchase of products containing added sugar and legislate which stores are allowed to sell products with added sugar.

Do you favor making sugar a government controlled substance like alcohol and tobacco?
