Miso


Miso is a paste made of soy beans which have been boiled, crushed, and mixed with a culture made of wheat, rice, barley, or beans. The mixture ferments for up to 3 years. The paste is used for soups, ramen, sauces, marinades and even dressings. Miso is available in red, yellow and white versions.

Substitute for miso

There is no substitute for the pure flavor of miso. If you just need a small amount for a recipe try substituting sesame paste or tahini.
