Margarita

An alcoholic cocktail invented in Mexico in the 1930's.  Well, depending on whose story you tend to believe.  The basic drink is made with tequila, fresh lime juice and Triple Sec (an orange liqueur). The drink is traditionally served in a short old fashion drink glass but in the U.S. the stemmed version is popular.  The frape style margarita became popular in the 1970's.  The trend today is back towards the traditional, unblended style but ingredients might include anything from pomegranate and blood orange to tamarind.
