A large member of the crustacean family, the lobster has sweet, flavorful flesh.  Lobsters are best simply steamed and served with lemon and optional clarified butter.  Additionally the lobster can be grilled and even pan fried.  Lobster meat can be used in salads and bisques.

what is a substitute for lobster base?
That is one of those tough substitutions. Clearly it depends on the recipe you are trying to make.  The best option would be be to make your own (see recipes) which requires lobster shells (you can sometimes get those from a fish shop).  Doing this might be more challenging than just buying the base which is readily available online.  These bases provide highly concentrated flavors so you could substitute one base for another (say a fish stock base) but again, if you could get fish stock base you could get the lobster base, yes?   Let us know your recipe perhaps we could make some other suggestions.
