Ahi

Other names: yellowfin tuna, bigeye tuna

Ahi is the Hawaiian name for big eye or yellowfin tuna. A traditional dish called "poke" is made from raw ahi. Another popularized preparation is "seared ahi" where the outside is coated in pepper or wasabi and seared in a hot pan. The ahi is rare to almost raw in the middle and just lightly colored on the outside.
