Cinco De Mayo!

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo this year with some classic traditional Mexican cooking. Start with a refreshing agua fresca or cocktail with guacamole and chips and move on up to your entree of choice and top off with Churros and Champurrado.

Some History


While many people in Mexico are apt to nod off at the thought of Cinco de Mayo, it has become a popular day of celebration within the Mexican communities in the U.S.  May 5th commemorates Mexico's victory over the French army in 1862. Read more about Cinco de Mayo History. 

So, grab yourself a pinata, some basic ingredients and lets make a fiesta.  We've assembled some of our most popular Mexican recipes for you to select from.  And don't forget your molcajete!  Our giant pig shown here holds about 22 cups or more of your favorite guacamole.

Drinks - Before And After

Traditional festival drinks include simple aguas frescas like agua de tamarindo or agua de jamaica.  For the adults try a traditional margarita or famous West Coast La Tuna (prickly pear) drink. 

Agua de TamarindoMade with tamarind pods and produces a tart cooling drink.
Michelada CocktailMexican beer kicked up with lime, Tabasco, Worcestershire sauce and Soy Sauce
SangriaMix red wine with club soda, brandy and triple sec, oranges, lemons and lime
Non - Alcoholic SangriaA non-alcoholic version uses grape juice or de-alcoholized wine.
Mexican Hot ChocolateUses Mexican chocolate, vanilla bean and milk
Margarita (Traditional)Tequila, triple sec, lime
Aguas FrescasFresh fruit "waters" made with fruit sugar and water.  A Mexican tradition.
Coctel Bandera Mexicana, Mexican Flag CocktailThe fruit represents the colors of the Mexican flag, red, white and green.
